What My Say
Rebecca McKay, Soprano, is an accomplished singer, educator, and community musician. Rebecca has performed as a soloist with The Elora Singers, Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, Spiritus Ensemble, Guelph Chamber Choir, Chorus Niagara, and Nota Bene Chamber Orchestra. She has been featured in numerous recital series and concert events, including St John's Music Series in Elora and Conrad Grebel's Noon Hour Recital Series. She has performed as a professional chorister all across Ontario for over 10 years.
Rebecca previously taught for over ten years at Laurier Academy of Music and Arts (formerly Beckett School). There, she had a robust studio and headed the vocal department for many years. While originally trained in classical music, Rebecca considers herself a crossover artist. She teaches and performs in a variety of styles from pop and rock to musical theatre to jazz. She has been lauded for her art song interpretation, energetic teaching, and warm, lush soprano voice.
Rebecca currently lives and works from her home-based studio in Elmira, where she is simultaneously completing a Master’s Degree in Psychotherapy. While music is still a part of her life, so is her passion for mental health and wellness. In her spare time, Rebecca runs marathons and dotes over her two mischievous cats, Memoosh and Carmen, as well as her beloved therapy dog, Denver the Yellow Lab.
